Trinity College Dublin : Library extention appeal

Wednesday 12 April

  • 10.30-11am Opening reading by Mary Robinson, Chancellor of the University: Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH
  • 11am-1pm ‘Reading Place as it Passes’: a workshop led by Dr Niamh NicGhabhann, University of Limerick: Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH
  • 1-2pm Lunch: Hoey Ideas Space, TLRH
  • 2pm Five Gates: an original promenade performance around campus, inspired by writing from and about Trinity, with guest readings from Gerald Dawe and Paula Meehan and music from the Trinitones: Assemble outside TLRH at 2pm. Performance lasts approximately 45 minutes.
  • 4pm Tea and coffee: Hoey Ideas Space, TLRH
  • 4.30pm History & Collections Roundtable: a discussion of the architectural and material histories of Trinity College, with Professor David Dickson (History), Dr Jane Maxwell (Old Library), and Dr Edward McParland (History of Art and Architecture): Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH

Thursday 13 April

  • 10.30-11am Tea and coffee: lobby of Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH
  • 11am-1pm ‘Writing Place’: a workshop with the writer Dr Nathan O’Donnell: Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH
  • 1-2pm Lunch: Hoey Ideas Space, TLRH
  • 2-4pm Audio Tour of campus: produced by students in collaboration with Fiona Hallinan, this tour will guide you on a walk around Trinity, as you listen to the sounds and stories of the university through time: MP3 players and headphones available from TLRH reception from 2pm. Tour lasts approximately 30 minutes.
  • 4pm Tea: Hoey Ideas Space, TLRH
  • 4.30pm Literature & Culture Roundtable: a discussion of Trinity’s literary and artistic lives, with Gerald Dawe (English), Rachel McIntyre (Douglas Hyde Gallery), and the writer Caitriona Lally: Neill Lecture Theatre, TLRH
  • 6.30pm Wine reception and a closing address by the Provost, Patrick Prendergast: Hoey Ideas Space, TLRH
